Hmm, the laser blasters sound different from the ones in the classic Star Wars films.
The graphics are pretty sweet, though.

I am a BIG fan of Star Wars and this looks amazingly beautiful and faithful to the look of the universe. It looks near photographic in places, let's hope that the gameplay can stand up to the standard set by the graphics department. On my 'might buy it new' list for now. Star Wars games have been a letdown apart from the X-Wing series and the Knights of the Old Republic so here's hoping.

the detail is pretty impressive. I'm curious to see what they'll do with the gameplay mechanics though

@venasque Agreed. For me, this footage evokes memories of the first Dark Forces - stripping away the Jedi/Force-related trappings which have become a bit of a crutch with more recent SW titles. Count me in.
@GDurasow the force is the back-bone of the series, imo. it's like making a dragon age game without magic or the grey wardens.
1 Like @HitmanDante yes, it's true that there are other stories to tell. i'm just worried that it will blend in with other games if they don't highlight the unique things about the universe. then again, the force is probably just some jedi hocus pocus to these guys anyway. that would be a great angle to see. people who think the jedi are just uncaring religious nuts. then we can kill them with a lightsaber.i mean...*sigh*...i miss KOTOR.
1 Like @isshiah I wouldn't necessarily call it the backbone of the series. Granted, it is the most predominant thing the average Star Wars fan is used to, i.e Star Wars movies, Star Wars The Clone Wars, basically every Star Wars game released in the past 10-15 years. Its become a stable for these media formats, but there are other tales in the Star Wars universe that are just as interesting. Hopefully this game will help illuminate one of them. The trailer harkens back to the days of Rebel Assault 2
1 Like What did we love about Star Wars? Jedi's, Tie's, X-wings, Chewie, Obi Darth! Anything other is not Star Wars! It's just a cash cow for Mr Lucas! It's in the "Star Wars universe" No I don't want that and Licas Arts can go chew Nenums ears off before I buy another cash crap SW games!

I was there was "Star Wars" was released in the cinema I bought the toys, the board games the micro machines the games on the Amstrad 464, the Nes, Snes Pc the arcade mahcines before all this KOTR crap! In fact, he's probably a few pegs above you, as far as Star Wars lore knowledge goes. Just because you saw Star Wars in theaters and you owned some other trinkets doesn't mean anything at all. I've got just about every Star Wars game worth having, a ton of action figures, models, and display statues of Star Wars characters. I have a whole wall of Star Wars books, two boxes of Star Wars comics, a whole rack of Star Wars cards (the card game AND Star Wars-themed playing cards), an entire room covered with Star Wars posters and memorabilia, Star Wars belts, shirts, hats, jackets and everything in between. I'm not impressed by your meager list.If you really think that "Star Wars" is limited to the four-year timeline of New Hope to Return of the Jedi (0 BBY/ABY - 4ABY) and SPECIFICALLY THE EVENTS THAT TOOK PLACE IN THE MOVIES, then you've only reiterated, BY YOURSELF, that you don't know what Star Wars is....Thank you for proving my point....You're a joke
@vongroove well GL also created ewok caravan of courage which i happened to love that it had characters in the star wars universe than weren't jedi's flew xwings or wore chewie lingerie.
and that was mid cash cow, i'll take this trailer over the prequel trilogy any day.

2 Like Looks good and very welcome change of pace from being a jedi (never thought I'd say that). Although to the many of you who are comparing this to Mass Effect, its a different universe entirely and I think George Lucas created enough of a rich history that he can have games in his own universe not be compared to another, and the only similarities I can see here is a cover system (which heaps of games use) and a space theme which may have been done once or twice in the last 20+ years of gaming. Plus ur basing this opinion on 1:20 mins of footage? Talk about jumping the gun. Looking forward to this one!!
I can't tell how good this will be. Graphics look pretty good and excited that it's not all about the force, but hope this isn't another "cover" combat mechanic.
This looks awesome a tad bit like ME almost, and these graphics are the best Iv'e seen so far. If this game has multiplayer its gonna even be better also hope we get to see something with Boba Fett!
This looks amazing. Hopefully they can pull off a star wars game where you character doesn't have force powers
Definitely looks good, but I don't see anything "next-gen" about it, graphics included. Let's wait and see.
