Why do all the new MMO's have to be compared to WoW ? It's not like any of them are similar. The only similar thing about them is that they are MMO's. WoW isn't even a good game. And if people think its going to be a WoW clone then don't play it. Why waste your time on here to whine and complain about it? I think this game has good potential. Who cares if the graphics and combat are amazing. MMO's have limits to the things they can do. Servers can only support so much. I personally think F2P is a better option. It gives people who do not have the kind of money to pay monthly subscriptions a chance to play a game they might enjoy. I know I cannot pay subs. Or they could do what GW2 did and just have people buy the game and play for as long as they choose. Once I buy a game, I'd like to be able to play it as long and whenever I choose without paying Subs to someone for something I bought.

Sorry for the long paragraph. I just really needed to vent that somewhere. I hope everyone has a good day or night where ever you are. :)

I don't know. I'd love it if this turned out to be something fresh and interesting, but I'm not very hopeful. Ever since WoW came to the market, AAA titles have never deviated from that formula. The huge titles are the most stagnant, boring part of the MMO market.

I hope this does well but the market is saturated with MMO's, I can see this being F2P within the first year.

I truly cannot believe people are writing this game off already. True, a lot of mmos are clones of WoW, but WoW is a massively enjoyable game, is it so bad that we get an Elder Scrolls version it? I think not.. Yes, I'm an elder scrolls fan boy, and yes i'm massively excited about this game. I agree with Raven, this game has to be sub based, it's free to play say hello to loonnnggg waits for crappy updates, oh it's buggy well, we already got your money so we don't care.. No offence Bethesda. The real time combat, diving, rolling, what looks like gorgeous visuals and all the old school Elder Scrolly epicness, mixed with every great mmorpg will make this great. Count me in.

This is a terrible idea, we told them we wanted to play with our friends in skyrim. But they overshoot it by a mile and thought MMO is a grand idea, and how much do you want to bet its going to be a pay per month?

I'm waiting to see the combat before I make a judgment on if I want to play this or not. I was dead set against it because I figured this was just going to be another WoW clone. If the combat is live action based though I may give this a try.

Oh, I hope IT IS SUB Based. Once a game goes to "Free to Play" it gets flooded by stupid kids and morons. If it's NOT Sub Based I WON'T be playing it. F2P SUCKS!!!!

"What most people wanted"? Who are you calling "most people"? Maybe people that get the idea misconstrued and end up assuming that the game will be an online version of Skyrim with the ability to explore the entire continent of Tamriel.

Sooner or later an MMO has to conform to a specific formula to create a balanced RPG experience.

He's already making excuses for the crappy graphics. In what world does it make sense to say it doesn't matter that the graphics are low res because they look so good? Bethesda will once again release a game that looks ten years out of date graphically and this time there will be no mod community to do their job for them and make the game look respectable.

Unspeakably stupid decision and every MMO that's released by the time this comes out will make it look even worse.

@blueinheaven Making excuses for the graphics? You mean admitting that there are technical limitations? Seriously, explain to me how that is making an excuse? It is the reason we don't have MMOs that look as great as single player games. Or if they approach the same level of graphics they are heavily instanced. Or there are population limits. Or other methods of limitation.

This isn't something Bethesda is hiding from. They admit it and are trying to find ways to work around the technical limitations by use of art direction.

Remember when Morrowind came out? It was a technological achievement. It looked amazing AND the world was vast. Sure some corridor FPS games of the same era looked better. It is easy to make a hallway look nice. Not so easy to craft a seamless world that looks even passable... even today.

The Witcher 2 looked amazing.. yet it was not an open world. Know why?

I stopped believing all this "something new" bullschit after playing 2 weekend beta events of GW2. You want to do something really new? Make the combat Demon Souls style. Let me really dodge or parry' let me aim real time. Let me corner a few enemies on a bridge,and make this look good and "serious" but "not eye tiring" for once. Can you do this sir ? I think not. And you are not intend to. What you are trying to do is make some more bucks from Elder Scrolls Legend.

@Doomrul Those things are not new either IE: vindictus, DFO, Dragon Nest, C9 being the newest that I can think of have those things you want.

Tod Howard is not in the game(i think) and from thoose trailers and when i imagine gameplay with them game will be solid,and when he said combat is like Skyrim that is a big thing for mmo,but nvm my felling this game will got 7.0 maximum 7.5

If they were going to make a multiplayer Elder Scrolls game I would have liked it to have been more intimate. Maybe a co-op experience with 2-4 players as opposed to an MMO. I hate mmos ha ha. They are always boring to me, because they are impersonal and everybody is just there. Running around. There is no persistence to the world. I feel like a smaller multiplayer facet in maybe the next Elder Scrolls game would have been a much better choice.

@sknight175216 You guys are right. The only correction I would make is that you hate MMOs NOWADAYS. Because in the beginning MMOs were very personal and all about choices. You had at the same time someone fighting a dragon in a distant cave and another writing a book in his self-created house (people did that in Ultima Online). Sadly the genre devolved to appeal to a broader audience.

@MidnightMeteor Thanks. I watched the interview and it doesn't sound too bad. The only MMO I ever liked was The Old Republic. I followed it from it's conception pretty much, but I'm a huge Star Wars fan. I only played a few rounds in closed beta and then the free trial, but I loved the game. However, I didn't buy it because I only played it by myself and completely ignored all the other players ha ha. My problem with a single player mmo is that I shouldn't have to play online. There should be an offline mode where I can play the game as a single player game. That's part of playing the way you want to as well. Not having to necessarily play with other people, but still having the option to.

@sknight175216 That would be an awesome method, not only for people who subscribe get rewarded, and you don't lose any of your fan base with the offline mode. If it ever came to have to pay for patches, yeah... I"m out haha. I know exactly what you mean, really cool if that could happen. From the looks of how free to play is becoming the thing, I can't see something like this not being the future.

@MidnightMeteor Yeah definitely the subscription too ha ha. I feel like if I payed 60 bucks for a game I shouldn't have to keep paying somebody to play it. Say a bought The Old Republic for example. I should be able to play it online and receive expansions and such if I'm a subscribing member. If I'm not I should still be able to play, but only offline and maybe have to pay for expansions (not necessarily patches that fix bugs, but actually more content) like the Rhakghoul thing for example. But if I don't want to pay for anything else I should be able to play the vanilla game offline because I bought the game. That's how I see it.

@sknight175216 No problem, I stumbled upon it when looking for more info myself. I was really hoping The Old Republic would keep me engaged, I concur with you about the online, my main gripe is the monthly, haha. I played on a beta weekend and loved every minute of it, awesome story telling, which made even more single-player like. I have a tendency to ignore others too, that's why I can't stand MMO's, but I love some of their features.

Would be awesome if they made an offline mode, but I don't know. I understand that, but yeah, seems like others won't be a problem if it truly does allow you to play alone. The combat designer seemed to drive the idea home that you can literally just play alone so that gives me hope, haha.

This game ain't Elder Scrolls, it is a ripoff of The Old Republic. In Elder Scrolls if you can't change the world, then it ain't Elder Scrolls,,,,

dont like the way he was talking about combat. if they slow it down and make it more like boring "mmo combat" i know he said its kind of like skyrim ... but why wouldent it be just like it if not better from the start.

@slonekb05 Because that would be too much for the server to handle. MMO's have slow and very ''mechanical'' combat because all the input you make has to be read by the server, which has to combine it with all the input from all the other players and then sent feedback to all players.

So when he says combat will be more like Skyrim then a typical MMO then I suspect he is lying. If they pull that off then it will be very impressive indeed.

However this is also my problem with TES:Online. Why make a TES game that has a less interactive world, offers less freedom in where to go in this world and has new gameplay limitations as well. It just won't be like TES, perhaps it will be an impressive MMO but as a TES player I don't think it is a game I would play.

I have never been a fan of Elder Scrolls games, but if this is an MMO that doesn't use hotkey based combat, than color me interested.

@Hiraishin I'd say if SWTOR went F2P it would see a revival and it is nice not to have to budget 15 dollars a month as well. F2P means you spend when you can afford it and you don't lose access to your 60 dollar game because you didn't pay 15 quid that month when you only planned to play maybe two hours a week because your busy.

This has the potential to be the next best PVP MMO. as long as it's carefully designed. Look up the name Matt Firor.. he designed a large chunk of the MMO called DAOC.

If they just use the engine and the gameplay of skyrim it would be a massive hit. Can't be that hard to make an online game with that engine and gameplay , and if that really really doesn't work try doing it like diablo 3 , 4 player co-op and PVP.

@Fruitymachete Unfortunately for what they want to achieve they will have to build this from scratch and optimize the memory allocations well enough to justify calling it an MMO as far as player capacity is concerned.

Let's see what they come up with though.
