Why couldn't link have wished for Demise and Ghirihim to be dead both in the past and present?

    ...

Gotta think about dem wishes thoroughly man.

    Because

    1. The Triforce's wishes probably doesn't have the ability to alter events of the distant past.

    2. There was no need for that as far as they knew.

    3. That's technically 4 wishes, not one.

Seriously? The frustration when Ghirihim could not follow Zelda into the Gate of Time after Lanayru Mining Facility's structure hosted the event of Link collecting the last third of the tablet didn't give them the hint that Ghirihim would harm Zelda later in the future, especially after declaring that he would get his revenge? And why the hell did they completely neglect to mention Ghirihim after collecting the Triforce?

It's one thing to assume that he will return at some point, it's another to think that he'll successfully kidnap Zelda and escape into the distant past. Up until then, Link had thwarted Ghirahim's every attempt at kidnapping Zelda, and they had little reason to assume that he next time would be different, especially if his master had already died.

Plus if you think about it, if Link used the Triforce to become infused with it, he'd become a god. And remember, gods can't use tbe Triforce, so he'd promptly lose that power. Or, best case scenario, the Triforce would take a wish like that and interpret it as "more power" and split, leaving only the Triforce of Power behind. Plus that's uncharacteristic of Link anyway, even if it would be effective.

Though I am amused by the Triforce's response to the wish. Imagine Link relating the story later..."There I was, standing on an island in the sky, Demise sitting sealed in a pit, so I dropped a rock on him"*incredulous looks* "It was a BIG rock..." For not being fully sentient, it sure has a sense of humor. xD

When Ganon wished for all of Hyrule in ALttP, the Triforce gave him a twisted mirror of it rather than allowing him to escape the Sacred Realm and take over the real kingdom.

Are you really expecting the Triforce to grant such insanely specific wishes for Link?

Amusing, but I doubt that they'd even consider having it play out like that.

This sounds like the approach they would take. And it sounds more like what would happen if they had somehow written the story so that Groose got to make the wish. Groose would end up with Power, Link with Courage, and Zelda with Wisdom. Then the three of them would have to work together if they're going to have any chance of winning.

This wouldn't change your story there because Link wouldn't have known anyway, but I had this oddball theory that the sealing spike was created with the Master Sword and pedestal from the end of the game at its core, but it needed a huge amount of force (like that of an island crashing down on it) to really drive it down to properly destroy Demise's essence in the seal, and then after the island came down Impa went through some secret door inside the statue to a passageway leading down to the bottom so she could retrieve the sword and return it to the temple.
