After watching the Giant Bomb Quick Look, the skill system looks interesting, and the game has me somewhat intrigued.

My main concerns with an MMO like this, though, is how challenging the game is during general questing. Do they pose significant enough of a threat to discourage you from aggroing more than one or two at a time, or can you usually just plow through 5 mobs with 75% health left afterwards? I noticed at one point in the GB look, he had 4 mobs beating on him and was taking very little damage, and when fighting individual enemies they were also doing little to nothing to his health bar. Is this always the case, or is it possible he was just overgeared for that area?

Even though I haven't been much into MMOs lately, this game looks kind of neat, but if questing is as sleep-inducingly easy as it is in WoW and other similar games, I won't be able to play without getting bored, so I figured I'd get some input.

This game features a mob tier of "pack" like 3-4 weak zombies that together are equal to one regular mob. You could take on 10 zombies and live but if you add in 2 regular mobs on top of that, no. Against normal mobs I'd say typically you could handle 2 and come out with 40% of your health left. That's a vast generalization of course, what they are and what your build and gear is can vary wildly.

Enemies can come in several varieties.

There are weak horde type enemies that you can take 3-4 on at once. They always aggro in a group.

Regular enemies you generally can only take 1-2 at a time.

Harder type enemies are 1 at a time.

Some enemies, however, have skills that will completely kick your ass if you aren't prepared.

This is assuming you are fighting enemies at your level.

Yes even certain areas in the starting areas are pretty much off limit to low level players. I'm level 4 and tried going in to the fenced off inner area of the airport. Bad idea.

Gamefaqs game rating system : 9-10 = Best Game Ever. 8-9. Major dissapointment. 8 and below : Garbage. This is getting ridiculous. people who agree so far = 71

Oh actually there are special areas of each zone intended for high level players to come back and visit later. In a conventional MMO we would be talking level 50 mobs in areas fenced off from the norm. They are called "Lairs," and the airport (east on the shore) has one. There is also just a real tough cluster that is I think south of the airport.

In the Savage Coast the entire area south of the hell motel until you get to the fairgrounds - smuggler's cove iirc - is another lair.

Mobs in this game are super easy as long as you don't pull extra adds. Even easier once you get blue or purple gears. 95% Of the game is soloable. By the time I reached the last 3 zones, I was having more fun setting up my builds than the actual combat itself.

I only just played a couple hours so far [Downloaded it a few before I had to go to work!] and I have been playing the Chaos spec.

I do pretty well but I have had some VERY close calls. I def do be very careful to only aggro what I can handle. I am overall tankyish for just starting out I would say with how I am spending my points, but I still have to be careful or I can get wrecked and barely live [I haven't died quite yet though].

I have really only just started and done a few quests though. So far I have been enjoying the danger of killing mobs in standard questing [so sick of WoW afk questing forever because you are effectively invincible]. Has brought me back memories of playing FFXI and trying to pull just the right mob without getting the others around it. It may get way easier though I have no idea.

I could imagine having a more fully developed skillset could make it a lot easier of they don't scale them well enough.

I also decided to get this game due to the giant bomb quick look!

I am def enjoying it so far. I imagine also depending on which ways you spec some are probably just a bit easier on normal mobs, but I do believe all roles can solo perfectly fine
