How does The Witcher 2: Enhanced Edition on the Xbox 360 compare to the hardware-intensive PC version? See for yourself.
its pretty good that they managed to get the xbox 360 version with in that 30fps and 60 fps, and the only differences between the pc and 360 are resolution of textures and shadow maps and post-processing effects. Also there was one scene there that you can see that they definitely decreased the culling
@torrne667 of course your "glory of being stupid" could also apply to you and put you in a position of an ignorant. sorry I had trouble with spelling in my third foreign language.
A comparison at 720p is pretty pointless considering the PC assets were clearly created with much higher resolutions in mind. Besides that, what's up with the lack of the Ultra quality setting?
I'm just impressed that they managed to make it look good on 360 without sacrificing a good framerate. They obviously made some compromises by adding a crap load of fog to obscure the environment on purpose but I'm just glad to be able to play this awesome game. Looking at the PC side though is furthering my motivation to build a good rig later this year.
lmao, "xbox looks better than PC" that's why this game is being played on medium? Also, this game was DESIGNED for console hardware which is a joke. PC is THE superior gaming platform, fact. We have faster CPU's, faster GPUs, more harddrive space, more games, better visuals, continually updating hardware and of course... modding. Suck it 360/PS3 noobs.
Xbox 360 version looks better in some ways simply because they toned down the extreme color saturation levels.
@NightmareP3 it is assumed that if you own a good gaming PC you already bought the Witcher 2. The purpose of the comparison was to show the commonly available PC version against the commonly available 360 version which is exactly what this video did. Kudos to gamespot for the solid video
@henoch I refer you to the "glory of being stupid" part of our conversation, where i said that stupid people never lose an argument because they are too stupid to notice that they have lost... whatever columbo. At least i can spell, you LOSER(not looser)...swings and roundabouts isn't it really :)
If you wanna see a good comprasion then simply search it on Youtube, gamespot did a very poor comparison by not giving us enuf info + they compared the non-enchaned PC edition to the enchanced 360 edition, to do a true comparison they should have compared both Enhanced edition since the Enhanced edition change some of the lighting and colors in cutscenes.
Is it just me, or does the xbox look better than pc medium? Anyways, pc(high) looks really outstanding. Not that I care about graphics in this game, I couldn't care less, because it's so damn good game, but still, it's really nice they made these improvements for PC.
I am not certain what the brouhaha is about, PCs are designed to be powerful and is it really that surprising to see something look better because something powerful is rendering it? I have an alienware and pretty much everything works fine, but I wish i could afford an X-box/Ps3. With more options in gaming, one thing you are certain to get is a wider perspective. Like someone down the thread said, relax and play, whatever your machine. lets just grade the game, not each other.
The bottom line is that gamestop put up this bogus video. The 360 version looks nothing like the PC version even on low. The PC version looks better than this video shows. The 360 version looks like the PC version on low with high texture downsampling not medium. They look nothing alike and the people that say they do are just trying to fool themselves into thinking this so they can justify paying more ($60) for an inferior version. The PC version was only $50 when I got it on launch and now it's probably less. The PC version also got all of the "enhancements" for free. The PC version is the best version and if people can afford a PC they should be playing it on that. Why play the inferior version of a great game when you could play the best. The game is better then that. I'm playing the 360 version right now so I guess idiots flock together. Let's make a stand against the bad, bad man. What I mean is that people need a villain to fight against. It makes them feel good. You all group up against somebody and talk (sh)*t together and you think your a little less small in this world. I only said those comments because people were already talking (sh)*t about about how ps3 is better then 360 and vice versa. Then you had people like me saying the PC was the best. Now what happened? The topic is back on track.
@lewishim666@ Lol im poor and have an ‹ber pc.. srsly.. im poor as hell, and i have a girl in my home every weekend(not getting laid everytime tho) Just saying your comments suck arse!!!!!!
Why didn't you tested with AA enabled? Honestly i own a Xbox360 and mainstream PC (i5, 560ti, etc) and I can say that at 1080p @ low is better than any console. Trow an medium with 4x AA 8x AF, and there's no comparison (only the price, Xbox 360 4GB it's around 250? in my country, i spend on my pc (without monitor) approx. 1200?. But it worth it, to play a game on low, better you won't. (I so much want to play enchanted series, and for that i need to buy a PS3, damn them!)
Congratulations to CD Projekt and some gaming companies in Eastern Europe, which unlike those greedy American companies, have not reversed the order of ports: PC first then the rest. It is about people with good taste who care about the graphic quality provided by a good PC. Comparison between a PC and console makes no sense and is not technically fair. A console with an optimized code can barely handle a game at 720p 30Hz. The PC loses a lot of time with Direct X and the various processes of Windows and user programs and still win easily.
PC graphics look better but the 360 version doesn't look that bad either. It's a great game, wether you play it on the 360 or the PC. Sadly, I only have a PS3 :(
I'm one of those rare gamers that owns both a gaming PC and an Xbox 360 and who plays/enjoys both of them equally. I've definitely seen some PC games that absolutely annihilate their console brethren visually (Crysis and Battlefield 3 spring to mind), but this doesn't seem to be one of those cases. Outside of some lower draw distance and a lack of bloom effects (which generally irritate me anyway), I fail to see any big difference here. Sure, the textures are slightly sharper on the PC version, but for the most part the 360 edition looks downright admirable--a pretty impressive feat given the age of the system's hardware. Great work CD Projekt!
@ElFlechero These days building a pc is so easy you certainly do not need a prebuilt machine. newegg.com has an excellent series of videos to show you how to build a pc easily. the extremely long install of marvel verse capcom on ps3 drove me away from the idea that consoles are easy and quick to turn on and play. yes that could be a rare example however i have seen lengthy installs on other games. having the frequent loading screens like in a game like skyrim, having the game on pc could literally over time save you from hours of waiting through console loading screens. overall i still love consoles for exclusives , however the affordability/ flexibility of pc hardware, often much cheaper games, ability to use 360 gamepad and ps3 dualshock gamepad, better graphics even with older cheap video cards, faster loading times, modding/ adding things to games, have overall made me mostly game on PC for the past few years. I have been lucky I guess and I barely run into problems with pc gaming, and luckily gaming companies and forum members are fast to offer patches and solutions to any issues that rarely occur. Either way for PC or 360 EVERYONE NEEDS TO BUY THE WITCHER 2!!!!!!!
@merigoldsass I did have a bunch of issues with my PC (I still like it) and so I stopped upgrading it and by now, it is a little outdated, which probably makes things worse. I'm sure if you got a totally top of the line pre-built rig you wouldn't run into many problems. So I think you're right--and it sure would be nice to have an SSD. And I know lots of people really like getting into customizing everything about their PC, which is awesome. I've just really enjoyed the simplicity of the console since I got one.
First of all i find it sad console gamers & PC gamers fighting over this and trowing in arguments, even calling names or refer someone poor just because mabye he realy can,t efford one..sad real sad, shoudn,t we just be happy all instead first that PC gamers had a change to play this a year before and now xbox360 owners get a great chance to play this awesome game? I think we should. It might not have the graphics of the high end spec PC on xbo360 but it still looks good, i also have to add this isn,t a simple port people ;) CD Project Red rebuilt the xbox version almost from scratch, and shoudn,t we gamers be also glad we get all the nice things the PC gamers had over the last year and also we xbox360 guys getting extra intro and cutscenes plus better controls. Last but not least if someone enjoys PC gamig more so be it but, PC gamers shoudn,t look down on console gamers and call them poor and ofcourse the other way around. Shake hands guys and just enjoy the good games coming on both machines.
@bubbalooga I think they way overdid bloom on the PC, although texture quality is way better. I had to majorly tweak gamma and contrast to get it to look decent and not washed out. Guess Projekt Red is also childish for toning down that annoying bloom on the 360.
@ElFlechero I agree the PS3 has great exclusives, which is why I own one and a gaming PC as well. No offense but you complain about pc gaming as if is guaranteed to always have problems. I have been pc gaming for about 5 years and I never have any of the problems you are referring to. I think your computer may just be a piece of crap, or some of the parts may be low end or broken. You complain about updates and drivers on the PC, last I checked there are usually tons of updates that are NEEDED to download to play many games on the PS3. Also lengthy installs are often required on the PS3. If you are lucky enough to own a SSD for your pc, usually buying a pc game disc(s) is MUCH cheaper than buying that same game on a console game, you then can install it and every time it will load lighting quick. The install of a PC game to a SSD is usually quicker than a PS3 install and boot up of a PS3 game.
@Lewishim666 People with money get laid? I guess thats all you have goin for your cuz your kinda of a d***.
nit pick all you want...but high end pc =$1000 or $200 for a xbox. Graphics dont matter. its a good game no matter what settings its played on.
@stan_boyd Are you joking? The lighting in this port is filthy. Bloom is non-existent and instead masked with a cheap fog (20secs as a prime example). Same applies to the tent scene at 1:20. Sure, it still looks great on the console, but to say it looks better is childish.
Wow, this is one of the hugest differences I've seen in a port. I guess I haven't personally seen many PC games ported to the 360. Most of time it's the other way around. Glad I can say I have the PC version and play it on high, but to be honest I wouldn't mind the 360 version, either. The gameplay was certainly the best part, and you can't do much harm to the magical graphics and artwork of this game. I hope I can one day enable UberSampling, though. It's the only way to properly see animated boobies.
@lewishim666 Also, did you actually call him poor? What is this, 1870? Are we looking down at people who aren't rich again, did I miss something?
@lewishim666 There are other reasons to not have a gaming PC. For example, I DO have a gaming PC, but almost almost play games on my PS3 instead. The main reason is because most of my favorite games are PS3's exclusives. A smaller reason, but that is important to some people, is that I like that the trophy/achievement system keeps a unified record of the time I've put into games. It's not important, but it sort of bugs me that I only have trophies for one Assassin's Creed game even though I've completed all of them. Then the last reason is that I just got sick of how inconsistent PC gaming tends to be, one game runs perfectly, then the next needs a driver update, then the next crashes all the time, then the next works but pops up crazy artifacts cause it doesn't like my particular video card...annoying. I can buy (or borrow!!) a game for my console, slide it in, and even though the hardware isn't as strong, it's optimized to work as good as it possibly can. Easy. Could I get slightly better graphics on my PC? Yes. Call me lazy, but I'd rather spend my time PLAYING games than installing them, updating my drivers, or taking apart my computer and changing something again.
@freakinxbeast55 you say "pc gamers are lame as hell not gonna lie.. all they care about is graphics and not gettin laid". What you obviously meant to say was "I wish I were a pc gamer so I could experience the best graphics and get laid". That's actually kind of funny that you would say that considering that your obviously poor and have never been laid. Judging by your grammar your still in high school. Jealousy is a b*tch. You aren't part of the club and you never will be. People with gaming PCs have money to afford them and people with money get laid. You should think about what you say before you make a fool of yourself idiot. If you can afford the best then why don't you have the best? There is only two reasons to not have a gaming PC and that is that you are poor or you never played games on one. How about you go get a job so you can afford some nice things instead of putting other people down.
@Nightrain50 Before I say anything I will say I own a 360 and a ps3 along with a PC. Your reasons for saying the ps3 is better then 360 are just retarded. The online gaming is way better on 360 that's why it's not free. Ps3 online gaming sucks. It's almost exactly how it was on Ps2. HDMI and component display the same quality. If anything the colors might be washed out slightly on component but you get the same resolution. The only games that look better on Ps3 are exclusives so it doesn't matter that it has HDMI. The 360 upscales the games to your screens native res while the ps3 doesn't. If you wanted a battery pack with your 360 controller why didn't you just buy the one that comes with the play and charge kit. It is also retarded that you think the ps3 controller is better because the battery is inside. What happens when the battery dies? I know you have to buy a new controller, while on 360 you just get a new battery for like $13 instead of having to buy a whole new controller. 360 is a gaming system so why does it matter that it doesn't have a bluray? It doesn't, if you can play the games. Also don't forget that the Ps3 is harder to program for. That's why the witcher 2 probably won't be on Ps3. The only valid argument you could of had was that the Ps3 has a built in optical port. All of your reasons for calling 360 inferior were busted when the slim came out anyway. The truth is neither system is better than the other and your retarded for thinking so. If you want true superiority get a PC.
I actually like the 360 more, sure the textures aren't as sharp but I like the lighting better on the 360, it just looks brighter.
@henoch Whatever.. you bum lord , go and troll somewhere else. Go and b!tch about pixel counts or whatever you do for fun...keyboard warrior P.O.S
Odd. I would think the PC version would completely wipe the floor with the 360 version. They're shockingly similar. Kudos for getting so much out of the 360 hardware.
I'm playing it on custom above medium setting with a 5 years old PC. Still, looks good on XBOX too. It's maybe the best looking xbox game ever.
Both versions look good. PC version is suspiciously low quality. And to be perfectly honest, I thought this game would look way better anyway. There's nothing ground breaking here in the graphics department. Gameplay... Well, that's another question.... Is the game fun to play?
I call shenanigans on what they deem as high PC settings. Some thing is really off . I would like to see what Gamestop played it at ( What their settings were ) There is more to it then just clicking High. ( What AA, Res, is V-sync on ? ) I know it looks better on High on my computer then what I am seeing, and I can play Ultra to Uber settings. Glad console gamers got a decent game out of it. Actually looks good. Still calling shenanigans on PC settings. . Not starting a flame war I would just like to see more info then just " High " PC settings during comparison. FYI The game only becomes PC " intensive " when set to Ultra or Uber.
@ALLoY1717 I've had a 360 since launch. I retired it. I switched to PS3 and only support that now. Reasons: online gaming should be free, my original xbox doesn't have hdmi, my battery pack that I had to buy separately stopped charging(ps3 batteries are in the controller), no wi-fi on my xbox either, no bluray. It's truly an inferior piece of junk. Anyway that's why I'm hoping for PS3 version, I only buy ps3 games because I choose too. I started this gen as an xbox guy, upgraded to the 360. It wasn't until I got a PS3 in 2009 that I realized the error I had made.
@torrne667 I called your B.S. but you couldn't admit I was right. It takes a mature person to do that kid.
@Manhasted You know I have been thinking about the way they are going to handle future hardware upgrades. I wonder if M$ and Sony have been peeking over at Apple's business model thinking they would like a piece of that. What I mean is what if we started to see more frequent hardware releases but maintaining game compatibility over at least 3-4 generations of that hardware, like the ipad and iphone apps. It could happen.....
