Chris Watters wields a spinfusor and skis his way through this video review of Tribes: Ascend.
I cannot say enough about how much I loved TRIBES, TRIBES 2 and even that abysmal TRIBES Vengeance. TRIBES Ascend is a fantastic addition to Pay To Play games. While exceptionally limited compared to the original games, this version is a ground breaking standard setter.
Flight simulator 2012 , failed game, unplayable ballance coz of neverending flying and huge deserts, where only one class will rule, the one with longer range and snipe, only stupid will play other class, game is so bad, was in cb, i cant believe, devs leave GREAT Global Agenda game and make this crap!
ive played the game but still its hard for me to kill enemies any tips on how to be a pro in this game ?
Do yourself a favour, forget this and go for Team Fortress 2. It's play for free too and much better.
@team_steve I find it hard to really compare the two games besides the Free to Play model. The movement is totally different for one. Two, you don't have to worry about a bunch of silly fucking hats in Tribes, which is a plus for me. Kind of going back to the movement a bit.... the only class that isn't as slow as molasses in TF2 is the scout. Every other class feels like they are walking with clenched cheeks so a giant turd doesn't fall out their ass. Just sayin'.
@DiabetikCrysis But! TF2 has surf mod, which if this had, would be insane (need to be MUCH harder for Tribes tho) and what other games are like either of them? really you can't compare tf2 or tribes with that many games..maybe SMNC but..thats not too good tbh.
Apple needs to get in the game. No pun intended. They have all these powerful chipsets that aren't being used to the fullest.
@Orinian i did not buy a Mac for games that is just plain dumb i would have bought a PC and upgraded it myself thank you. I bought it as i am a graphic designer. I never said i bought a Mac for games i said whats the point of Apple installing all these graphic chips and great hardware when it can't play games like PC READ BEFORE YOU COMMENT, goes out to the same to the people who ignorently liked your post too
@blu-fan-boy You are such a n00b.:) Look up on the menu bar. Besides the iPhone, does it say any other Apple products? No, cause they are crap. if you bought a mac thinking you can play games like this on it, haha, you have a lot to learn. And you still need to learn the difference between a PC and a MAC
@Orinian Technically speaking, a Mac is a PC. PC means personal computer, not a Windows computer.
Make sure before you bash someone, you get the subject material down pat first.
@Blue-fan-boy Apple has complex graphics chipsets for programs such as maya, photoshop, illustrator, final cut, after effects, 3d cad, etc. its not for gaming due to the fact they use a unix based code of os 10.x.x. The API that unix uses is open GL 4.1 and previous versions. most games other than around five percent use Microsofts proprietary API Direct X11 and previous versions. The Xbox is named as such because it is a direct x api graphics processor, hence xbox. Apple isnt about to start paying microsoft to use their API when they have one that works well in almost everything but games.
@Lazy_Marine: large market share?! You don't know what you are talking about.. 2011 stats says Mac has 5% share. That's far from being taken seriously for gaming.
I hope they publish this for MAC too, apple has a large share of the market now its about time publishers recognize
@Gelugon_baat I've never seen that happen with game videos uploaded by reputable game journalism websites.
Whats the point of Apple advertise all these great graphic chip sets and ram and they can't nail games like this because its PC only grrr
More games should follow this f2p model. Lol, TF2 and T:A are the games of the future.
I just hope that the company thats produceing the game doesnt fall on thier face again like the last one did with vengance....
I used to play the... umm, game... out of Tribes/2/Vengeance. I've been dabbling in the beta, and it brings back fond memories. Sadly, I just can't find the time to really get into it. This is one of the few games I'm glad is "free to play" because I can enjoy it sporadically now, and pay what I want to get deeper into it later if I choose. F2P doesn't work for everything, but it has it's benefits. As for the game, it's a lot of crazy, fast-paced fun.
I kinda like this free 2 play thing, I started playing Lotro f2p and liked it enough that I decided to start paying for it. I tried this today and I think I might fork out a bit of money on this one as well. I like how rather than paying 60 bucks and finding out I don't like it that much instead I play it first and then decide how much I want to pay.
Well I played it a while. The jet pack skiing combat is fun but there is a serious lack of weapon variety and strategic maps. It's mostly just people constantly flying around using grenade launchers and stupid spinfusor. The xp granted per game vs. cost of new weapons is ridiculous
That live-action Prototype commercial is just terrible. Johnny Cash? Really? Complete fail.
So far for the last year or so, i have seen mostly only mainstream games get 9s.Or ones that happen to be the favs of the person who reviewed. Can't really prove me wrong either... You only could if gamespot still did the old way of review score.Where it showed everything that added up to the games score.Sound, replay value, gameplay, presentation. You see , if a game had almost no flaws and was decent, it hit a 9 typically back then. Now it only hits a 8. Kevin tried to explain it to me, but more or less it kinda strengthened my argument more than anything else.
@Diabeto I do admit it takes sill, but I wouldn't compare it to counter strike. Because in counter strike, it's at least fair so everyone can get the same weapons. have you tried buying weapons without spending real money in tribes? They get up to 100,000 xp. I do enjoy tribes, but I would have rather payed $50 for it and unlock all the weapons fairly than play it for free and have to either pay for the weapons or earn them at the rate of a snail climbing the Eiffel tower.
@bhmg One of the few FPS that I actually played a lot of multiplayer in it, they rarely make them how they used to.
I hope in the future, Devs able to develop games that only focus on one campaign-only. (It's either single player only games like Skyrim, or Limbo. or multi-player only games like TF2 or Tribes Ascend.) its kinda suck playing Half-a$$ Single-player or Half-a$$ Multi-player. BF3 is supposed to be a good multi-games, but the Single-player is soo bad, RAGE also suffer the same thing. I like Saber Studio idea, pay half price for the single-only / multi-only. :P
@burnteyeball Wow... lol no, way off dude. But that's cool, even the veterans of this game don't fully understand it. This is so cool to see Tribes in the mainstream. I predict 90% of the people that try Tribes to rage quit. People seem to think Tribes is a casual shooter (Serious Sam). In terms of potential skill Tribes is on the competitive/skill level of Counterstrike. Don't believe me? Of course you don't. I don't expect things to be any different from the last 3 Tribes games this time around. A bunch of newbies join up. They all have their asses beat really hard by 10+ year veterans then rage quit and ignore the game. Been happening like this for the past 10 years.
@Daian Remember when the reviewer was saying that there were two groups of people - those and don't know the source material? Well, I think this guy falls into the latter group. That explains the low score.
Tribes was also the first multiplayer game to have things like vehicles, classes, and large maps. Hard to swallow that a Gamespot review would fail to mention that while they were calling the execution "average".
@jollybest1 I'm not even good at it and I'm having blast playing it regardless if someone is buying better weapons, etc.. Once I am able to get those same guns, I am hoping that enough experience will have me being just as good as everyone else. Plus, I'll have a nice feeling of accomplishment knowing that I didn't pay a dime for it. @PCGamingRig I see, I guess that would be nice, but it's still a blast.
This is definitely a great game and the fact it's free makes it even greater. Too bad I'm playing TERA Online atm, I would be all over this. Soo many good games coming out this summer. Great time to be a gamer :}
Downloaded it last night. Graphics weren't that impressive and I'm not a fan of the F2P model. But had a blast playing it.
The review was great the score was a little to low but what the hey it is a great score for a f2p game or a game that wasn't made by big guys ...It is free man you can do it for free and if you are good it doesn't mater that others buy crap....
One thing that I'm really not a fan that just came to mind is the game's gold system. It heavily reminds me of Xbox Live's needless microsoft points. Why can't 10 dollars be shown as 10 dollars on my account rather than 800 gold?
