Watch as Sony unveils the successor to the PSP, live onstage in Tokyo.
With the right price tag and 2-3 hit games i have no doubt this will sell millions. But till now nor the price tag or games seems so good . We will see
Definitely a beautiful piece of kit - very stylish and solid looking considering the amount of stuff being crammed into it. Make no mistake, this thing is a beast.
@custard500011 Nothing says "Gimmick" more than the 3DS. There's a difference between features and gimmicks.
@keyboard-hero obviously thats good to hear the umd gone,so im supposing the memory is also the next generation since it can take load and loads of GB inside it,and by anychance do we know if the NGP will have a HDMI outlet?
@M3ran Apparently the UMD is gone (thank god!) and the physical form of games will be as memory cards that can support a lot more memory and data.
touch screen isnt a gimmick.. its beginning to be the norm... just like caller id, at one time it was gimmicky, but now its standard
god damnit. why did they have to add all these bs gimmicks. touch screen? motion contoll? and a goddamn camera!? why!? sony you idiots.
Back touch pad? reminds me of MS research project in here http://research.microsoft.com/apps/video/default.aspx?id=143087
I don't see how they copied The 3DS. Alot of companies have access to touch screen and cameras so it's not really a copy. DS lovers need to get over it. Personaly I think Sony has it all about the same time they just wait to perfect their stuff and put more into it. The new NGP looks awesome. I too want to know if its going to have a hardrive.
@keyboard-hero exactly, thats what i wanna know, memory card or a hard drive, and does this all mean that the UMD is gone?and what is the new cartridge like?
Great! New media. What i am going to do with all my UMD`s now? Will be a UMD reader or a cable to download the UMD information to play those games on the new NGP? No 3D either? Wao!! Sony, what's up? I am still waiting the way to pass it to my PSP Go. It has not gone anywhere yet.
@GameBeaten The inclusion of GPS will add more possibilities for creative and innovative games that can use the GPS technology.
Did it REALLY need a GPS? Come on Sony, I only care about the games. I'm sure I'm not the only one who feels this way.
@keyboard-hero From the interviews I've seen it sounds like it'll be using memory cards still. That's probably cheaper for both sony and for buyers so I'm all for it.
Didn't know that it has cameras, I supposed they stole that from Nintendo too. Then again, the 3DS will probably be a 3D PSP with dual screens (one of them being touch-sensitive).
Okay Sony, you have my money, just release more quality games this time. I don't want just 5 good games.
Scribble_This when ever there's light, there is darkness. or something. unless it's really really bright.
So, the only thing stopping me from absolutely flipping out and immediately beginning to save up for this thing is the battery. This is a portable system, and how slim it is, combined with the excellent features and performance I've seen so far lead me to believe that the battery life might be its one downfall. I look forward to that ONE wee tidbit before i plan to buy this portable powerhouse xD
I said it once. I'll say it again. If Sony ever added a second analog to the PSP, it may well be my #1 system, period. Time to save up.
More horespower does not = better. There are 2 things that are more than likely going to kill this before it even gets off the ground, cost, and battery life.
SONY ONLY!!! nothing will compare to this handheld especially the 3ds lol the iphone has a better chance. I can't wait to play this please make a Call of Duty game for this!
PSP2 = overkill. Sony friggin' rulezzzz!!! Now only hope the price won't be an overkill aswell xD This thing is gonna rockkkkkk!!!
was that the PSP 3000 with two analog sticks??? Im disappointed in both Nintendo and Sony for their most recent interations... especially sony. If somethings going to be next gen for the next 6 years it should have some next gen features! Touch pads, graphics, 3g is all CURRENT GEN!
For the same amount of money, you can get a state of the art graphics card for your PC. Why does anyone game on a micro screen like that anyway??
Sony's FINALLY steeping their game up. I'm glad sony fanboys get a good handheld this time. I for one prefer the 3DS, but thats just me. This really does look great. I just hope they support it with more great games this time.
