Video Game Demos. Are They Good or Bad for the Game Industry?

Be honest, do you buy games more or less, based off of game demos you play? Personally, I'd have to say they turn me off more often than they influence me to buy them.

For instance: Soul Sacrifice. It has a very extensive demo that shows you a deep look into the full game, more so than most other game demos. At first glance I was blown away, and thought it was deep beyond my hopes, but then shortly after that repetition set in and I realized the game wasn't for me because I got a first-hand feel for the game's mechanics and game play. Had they only offered a much shorter demo I wouldn't have become so familiar with it and would have definitely been tricked into purchasing the game.

Then there's Sine Mora, a bullet hell shooter with a different twist on the genre: time is your health gauge. I played through the demo and thought it was good, but not $10 good, more like $5 good. I'll wait for a sale.

On the other hand, the XCOM: Enemy Unknown demo sold me instantly after the first tutorial.

What is your take on the value of game demos?

System Wars isn't System Wars any more.

Have an agenda to match your personal fanboyisms? Paid by a company to spread lies about the competition? Just wanna make sh*t up about stuff? Then take it to "System Wars" where anything goes now.

In the old days you were encouraged to back up your statements and provide sources to the claims you made, but now the nature of a general conversation in "System Wars" goes something like: "X company is dead", "no it isn't", "you're butthurt", "deal with it", "why U mad tho", "where are the links to back up what you say?", "in my ballsack", "U mad?", "he mad".

Calling something "System Wars" suggests a more serious nature, not a room filled with half-wits and finger pulling. I think that if enough posters complained to the admins about banning trolling, a forum called "System Wars" could live up to its name. But if you're a clown by nature then you'll love it as is.

The old System Wars was a place for warriors, now it's a place for trolls. Under the new rules it seems to be a place for teenagers, so if things remain the same you'll have to go to the Primary Games Discussion board if you wanna have legit discussions with adults.

Use caution, every time you visit the current state of "System Wars" you risk suffering permanant drain bamage... I mean brain damage. Good luck out there!

Yo, Hardcore Online Multiplayer Shooter Guy, Y U So Mad?

When I'm tryin' to defend the flag, why do you keep trying to kill me again and again? Why don't you try to get the flag? I keep killing you repeatedly, so what are you trying to prove? Why are you playing this game in the first place if it isn't to win the game?

It's just a game I_Kill_People83, so why you gotta make things personal and rage on me for? It's a goal-specific game we're playing Baked_Athlete411, so why do you drop those goals just to come at me brah? I mean you did get me once or twice, so you sure showed me how much of a killa you are, so why aren't you happy with that, and why do you keep at it, why U so mad gamer?
