So I needed to buy a new personal PC, my first since 2006 since my employer has provided machines for me for a while.  I am looking forward to having a personal machine after such a long time.

It also means that I'll be getting a Steam account after wanting one for a long time...  There are so many PC exclusives I've missed over the years.  Can y'all recommend games I might have overlooked?

My current wishlist is:

  • Binding of Isaac
  • STALKER

Pretty short list, so I know I've missed a few.

I also went to see the Legend of Zelda Symphony of the Goddesses, which was incredible.  I have not played through the last 2 titles, and I really want to now.  That, combined with the recent arrival of Hyrule Historia makes me really nostalgic!

I've been trying to get to Dear Esther and To The Moon ever since I heard how touching the stories were. If you're gonna do the Steam thing, you gotta get those two games.

STALKER is a must for sure. If you like the STALKER style of games then Metro 2033 is also worth checking out.

I hope the Zelda Symphony will come to these parts one day.

If you have Steam, you have to have L4D and L4D 2 -- it's the law! :P

Also recommend Shogun 2

of the Tropico games I thought Tropico 2: Pirate Cove was the most fun.

Playing pirate is always a blast.

I agree with Alli about Elder Scrolls and mods - they made a huge difference in Morrowind and Oblivion.

I have Skyrim but have not played it yet.

both Torchlight games are enjoyable.

Mass Effect and Deus Ex games also are recommended.

there are oodles of games on Steam - keep an eye out for their sales and one thing I always do is double check the prices on Amazon.com

I some times can beat the Steam prices there because I have the amazon prime for my kindle and that includes discounts and free shipping on many video games  and DvDs.

and it is nice to have an actual disc in hand for a few games:)

so many good games on PC.  If you're not into MMO's, there's Torchlight 2, the Total War stuff is always good, if you havent played Skyrim yet (or any Elder Scrolls game), they are much better with mods.  For strategy there's Dawn of War (combat based) or Anno 2070 (mission based).  Oh, Civilization IV and V are great as well.
