I have never really been a fan of Tomb Raider and never played the games apart from Tomb Raider II but I can see why someone like yourself would be disappointed with the new game. Afterall, it seems to be purposefully moving anyway from almost everything the old games stood for. Still, I'm willing to give this new Tomb Raider a go one day.

Well here we go... one of these blogs... but I feel it needs to be said. You know the old expression... milking the cow dry... well as much as I love this series... I feel that the cow has been milked so dry that all you are getting now is powdered milk!!! ![]()

Now before you go on bashing this blog... please read it and you might understand.
I love the Tomb Raider series... and always have... but in my opinion... too much of a good thing is simply that... too much!!! I still remember to this day when the very first Tomb Raider came out back in 1996. It was so new and awesome. I remember getting my very first 3D card to run it on and how awesome it was to just see that type of environment for the first time. I must have played the original over 20 plus times because it was simply that awesome. Well... here is the facts... most people are not even aware of just how many Tomb Raider games have been released... so here is a list of them...
Tomb Raider
Tomb Raider Gold
Tomb Raider II
Tomb Raider II Gold
Tomb Raider III
Tomb Raider III (The Lost Artifact)
Tomb Raider - The Last Revelation
Tomb Raider Chronicles
Tomb Raider Angel of Darkness
Tomb Raider Legend
Tomb Raider Anniversary Edition
Tomb Raider Underworld
Tomb Raider Guardian of Light
Three were also made for the Gameboy Systems
Tomb Raider - Prophecy
Tomb Raider - The Nightmare Stone
Tomb Raider - Curse of the Sword
So right there you have 16 versions of the game over the course of 17 years. Mind you that I have played them all... and most of them were awesome... but some were... well let's just say not so good.
I do consider myself to be a Tomb Raider fan... but really... I feel that the series simply needs to go away... and be left alone. Most of the modern day gamers haven't a clue as to where her roots actually started from. I was in fact talking to a gamer friend of mine just the other day who had played Tomb Raider Underworld... and was like... I don't get it. Why was she fighting those people... and what was that all about were a couple of his questions. If you have not played it from the start then most of you would be completely lost. So the series for the most part has been great... but too much is simply too much.
Now here we are, in the last 22 days before the next release... and yes... my real reason for this blog is here... why, oh why, or what were they thinking making the game into a multiplayer game!!!??? I mean... it is Lara Croft - Tomb Raider.... not Tomb Raider's!!! Right??? Lara never needed any assistance in her past to be able to get thru the vast tombs and catacombs to obtain relics and fight enemies before... why does she all of a sudden need to have that now? Oh... that's right... we simply wanted to milk the cow completely dry!!! As if that weren't bad enough... talk on other sites about the game say that the single player campaign is only about 10 hours long! Really??? I so pray that is not true... but given the past and what they have made... I can totally see this happening. As if that weren't bad enough... the achievement list came out and 14 of the 50 achievements for the game are all Multiplayer!!! One of which requires you to grind your way to a level 60 in multiplayer!!! I mean... who really has the time for that or cares to. ![]()
In closing... I have seen the game play and honestly think it looks awesome... but if the facts of it only being as short as other sites are saying, I personally feel that Crystal Dynamics and Square Enix are simply banking on making money from the name Lara Croft / Tomb Raider. Sad days are ahead my friends... when the games we loved from the past are simply re-heated / melted down into a new version so big corporations can only benifit making money from the general public... without caring for what they really want in a game!
