Saints Row The Third
Ever since the first Saints Row, I've always maintained a positive outlook on the franchize. Okay story, great characters, and you actually felt somewhat cool while playing the game. What set this free roam game from the rest is the character customization (unlike the GTA series). The amount of tiny details you can select for your character is great and you grow onto your character like its part of you. Everything from the first two games has met my requirements of an exceptional and sound game, so my expectations of the third installment were pretty damn high considering the advertisements for it.
Before the game was release, the hype for SW3 was huge; it was praised by E3 and had a reputation for being the craziest and most badass game to be released. I mean, how could you go wrong with previews that showed a car spewing out padestrians like nothing or even using a huge purple **** as a weapon? I was amazed at how incredibly insane this game was going to be. Infact, I was so excited that even the slightest mention of the game made me squeel with delight. To put it simply; I could not wait.
Once I bought it, I was practically racing to my 360. "this is going to be friggin crazy, man. OH JAYZUZ, OH YEAH MAN FINALLY SAINTS ROW DAWGY DAWG!" - I thought to myself. The title menu pops up and I click new game and immediately it jumps into the pre-narative game opening level. "Okay cool" The game gives the basic tutorial and such. But I noticed something that didn't set with me; the guns seem so underpowered. Seriously, the guns in this game don't have that "umph" to them like the last games. But it gets worse...
There's a leveling system, so you don't start out with everything already. WTF IS WITH THIS?! Do we really have to level up just to get better at guns, health and whatnot? I mean, we don't even start out with a cop/gang star hud. And whenever we level up we have to have a crapload of cash just to get it. I mean leveling up is one thing but having to buy whatever you're trying to level up is a slap to the face. It's cumbersome to always worry about not having enough money to have an adequate character build to pay for. This leveling up system takes away from the game, it feels like you're not fully experiencing its potential.
Onto the glitches... very buggy. Bodies get stuck onto cars and walls, you teleport from one spot to another, whenever you shoot someone in the car the magically dissapear when you get into the car instead of throwing the dead body out like the other games... it's not game breaking but just annoying plus it is sad to think that the previous games did not have these problems.
The humor isn't even funny, it's like they are trying too hard but epically fail. The auto-tune dude is half-assed, **** funny but gets stale in an hour or so, sexual innuendo's are bad. It's just embarrassing...not funny at all.
To put simply it's the worst in the series. Stick with the first two and you'll be absolutely fine without the third.
I WOULD LIKE TO ADD:
They totally took out the competative multi-player. In the first two games, it was a blast. Now it's co-op based and more of the same...They didn't even take any initiative to improve the multiplayer or even branch out with new online game modes; they made it worse and limited.
