1 Like Game is an easy 9, I'm 25 hours in and still have lots of stuff to do. Love this game so much.

Just a brief note:
Once the Haytham parts are over and you become Connor AC3 gets a FULL POINT better. It doesn't seem as glitchy anymore either. 8.5 adjusted. (Raised from 7.5)
ALSO
If you are playing for the first time do NOT read the Database Entry for Kaniehtí:io. DON'T DO IT. Ubisoft includes a spoiler that RUINS the end of Sequence 3.
Oh, in addition;
Whatever the name of that GS reviewer for Liberation is he is just wrong. Liberation is SO much richer than a 6.5. If you can't get over the lower production values then it could rank a 7.5 but, let's face it people: Ass Liberation is FUN. 8.0
I got Okami HD. Can't wait to play it with the Move!

1 Like I noticed that a lot of recent reviews tend to focus on a game's technical merits moreso than the actual fun it is to play (if any). I don't know if this is a conscious change or what with reviews; or maybe I'm just noticing it more for some reason. Whatever the case, it's something I've noticed for games such as ACL. That's not to say the technical merits should be overlooked or ignored, but it just seems to me that reviews are emphasizing them MORE than the "fun factor."
Fun should ALWAYS be a factor. I can overlook a LOT of flaws if the game is a blast to play.
Have you played Okami before? It's amazing. I hope you have fun whether this is the first run or a return trip.

I thought so. I thought you were summarizing the whole game of AC3 based on your impressions with the intro... don't do that again, please. It can be really misleading and confusing towards people who want to get the game. My brother has Assassin's Creed III; I've watched him play it and was sitting here, reading your blogs - wondering how you could not like it. :P However, I have two pieces of bad news: there are spoilers in other database entries also and there are still plenty of glitches when you play as Connor. :( Apart from that, the game looks absolutely stellar. And I'm not sure how the reviewers didn't like Connor as much as Ezio - his character just grows and gets better with time, adding more depth to the plot. I actually like him more than Ezio now (though Ezio is still awesome). As for Liberation - I was sure that it was better than the critics are saying. It looks really good.
1 Like WHen I put up an Initial Impressions, that's exactly what I'm doing. Hence the 'initial impressions' part of it. I actually do it ALL the time sionce I don't get advance copies and I try to be punctual. ;)
I'm with you on the Connor-love. I liked Ezio, also, but if they didn't like Connor I have no idea what they were thinking.
I think the problems reviewers had with Liberation were more to do with the lack of deep characterization of the protagonist. Each one of I've read says she doesn't get much of a focus, which is unfortunate. Still, game does look cool. Probably pick it up whenever I finally get a Vita.
I'm not finished yet, but thus far I think she's laid out pretty well. I'd like to know more about her past though.
Yeah, AC3 takes its sweet time before it starts to pick up and let you do things. As for glitchiness, go to the large dirt road west of Boston, near the water and lighthouse, and watch as dozens of NPCs just vanish before your eyes. Always cracks me up.
And can you get the multiplayer to work? Because it always tells me that Ubisoft's servers aren't working. Kinda want to know if its an actual problem or not.
I want to get Okami Hd but i heard the dl size is around 16gigs. That'd take a while for me to download.
I haven't tried the MP yet. Actually it doesn't bother me that it's inaccessible because I'm not ready to start! I'm not sure about the size of Okami, but it did seem to take a while. I hate the new store btw, I can't seem to DL in the background...
The new store is atrocious. i despise it. It's made navigating through items a pain. They've changed it to be closer to Xbox marketplace but i always hated that setup.
It drags. I even took the time to get all the Boston viewpoints and almanac pages. The RAMPANT glitches and easy-to-hate character meant that I was about ready to dismiss AC3 but the MOMENT you become Connor the awesome starts. Hang in there! (Took me about 3 hours)

Hell yeah Okami is Oawesome!! i wanted to buy the game 3 days ago but i only got $16 in my wallet T-T so i might get Jak and Dexter HD collection it's on sale for $14.99 (used to be aound 12.99 each) it's a good deal right? so whaddya think? =P
