This is a ranking of 7th gen JRPGs I've played from most favorite to least favorite. Please note I said ''favorite' and not ''best to worst'' and also please note I'm not including remakes/rereleases.
1.Final Fantasy VII Crisis Core
![]()
FFVIICC has the most heart breaking love story I've ever experienced and I love the way it implements the concept of 'real-time' into it's battle system to make the player have to attack and cast spells quickly.
2.Lost Odyssey

Lost Odyssey's story was written by the creator of Final Fantasy and I love the way it's backstory is presented through memories/dreams that show emotional and heart breaking moments of a man whom has lived for 1000 years. It's music is great, whether it's the beautifully delicate or awesome electronic music and it's music was done by people who've composed music for Final Fantasy games. It has a cutsey style love story and a sad love story.
3.The Last Story

Another game in which Final Fantasy's creator Sakaguchi was involved with.It has characters whom I care about whom are more down to earth than characters in other JRPGs because most of the party members begin as mercenaries living day to day,not knowing when they'll have their next job to pay food or whether they'll die the next time they do a mercenary mission.Has a very heartfelt and mature love story and another love story that's more on the charming side.Has my favorite battle system out of all the 7th gen RPGs because it makes you or allows you to utilize many different things in combat such as basic attacks, commands, spells, spell circles, positioning, dodge button, block button, using platforms.
4.Final Fantasy XIII-2
5.Ar Tonelico Qoga
6.NieR
7.Tales of Graces
8.Kingdom of Paradise(AKA Key of Heaven)
9.Fragile Dreams
10.Valkyria Chronicles
11.Xenoblade Chronicles
12.Final Fantasy XIII
13.Eternal Sonata
14.Atelier Totori
15.Star Ocean The Last Hope
16.The World Ends With You
17.Valkyria Chronicles 2
18.Tales of Vesperia
19.Dragon's Dogma
20.Demon's Souls

Demon's Souls is a great game beautiful it's battle system is fluid and the game makes you earn the right to stay alive and it has a beautifully morbid world. The reason I don't have it ranked higher is the game requires a lot of patience which I don't have and which is why this game made me so frustrated when I had to redo a lot of working after dying against a boss.
21.Agarest Generations of War
22.Muramasa The Demon Blade

Muramasa TDB has a lovely artstyle and I like Japanese mythology and it's hack n slash style battle system is fun and it's boss battles are great and I like how the game has a huge variety of weapons and makes you utilize them and it makes you take care when platforming such as having to dodge bombs from enemies.
23.Resonance of Fate
24.Bowser Inside Story
25.Dragon Quest 9
26.Devil Survivor
27.Radiant Historia
28.Rune Factory Frontier
29.Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles Crystal Bearers

People might be wondering why I like FFCCCB more than the games I've listed below, well it's because FFCCCB has a great story, detailed and beautiful environments, sexy busty female characters. However it's battle system sucks.
30.Phantasy Star Portable 2
31.White Knight Chronicles
32.Lunar Knights
33.Blue Dragon
34.White Knight Chronicles 2
35.Trinity Universe
36.Enchanted Arms
37.Hyperdimension Neptunia
38.Magical Starsign
39.Inuyasha Secret of the Divine Jewel
40.Children of Mana

Children of Mana feels very repetitive because most of the gameplay revolves around dungeon crawling and even the sidequests involve going into dungeons and the story is a very generic fantasy story. The only things I like about the game are it's visuals are colorful and charming and it has some charming but small towns with NPC interaction.
41.Last Rebellion

It has a story that starts off interesting but has nothing interesting happening in it between after the first hour of the story and the final hour of the story because the story writters probably didn't know how to expand it's story after it's interesting beginning. It's battle system relies heavily on trial by error and to do a decent amount of damage you'll need to hit enemy body parts in a certain order. The animation for when your characters attack enemies looks horrible. The environments are usually bland, the environmental objects look ugly(such as mountains with jagged edges and buildings that look like they're made from plastic)the characters lack textures. The battle system makes your 2 party members share the same soul so if one of them is under the status effect that makes them paralysed it means they're both paralysed so why does the game have a command to cure the paralysis status effect if you can't use it when your characters are paralysed? The game has surprisingly beautiful music though. You know something is wrong with this game when NIS said they regret localizing it.
Please Note:The only games on my list that I think are not good JRPGs are Children of Mana and Last Rebellion.I think every other JRPG on this list is a good game but some of them are ranked low simply because I like many other JRPGs more than them.
Also,I still haven't played Ni No kuni and Pandora's Tower but they both look like JRPGs that would have a good chance of being in my top 10 favorite JRPGs from the 7th gen.Sorry I didn't give reasons for my choices but I don't have time to explain why.
