So, I don't visit much anymore, and the when I do, I am not surprised anymore that this site and especially the Unions are stagnant as the great salt lake in the middle of the dry season.

It seems to me after they did the forced format change things went south, anyone else see it that way. All I know is that I spent much time pushing my choice unions and certain items on here, and the more I used it, the more they screwed with it and changed things till it just seems that everyone just faded away, or at least their interest did. I am just as or more guilty than most, but you can only push on the broken car by yourself for so long before you give up and wonder off with the hope that it will survive the traffic, but not having much faith that it will.

Just curious why everyone else has moved on?

Unions were dumb to begin with.  I visit GS more, now that 1up is shuttering.

I never visited unions.  Not sure why not...

I never got the meaning of the UNIONS, they seemed like a waste of time. I have recieved SO MANY requests to join op with different Unions, but none of them seemed to be doing anything.

Besides, NO ONE is here for the sake of some ridiculous Union, they are here because of ONE THING....   It's called "GAMING".

unions go through periods of up and down but I don't think for a moment that Gamespot itself is in trouble.

this was a fine site before we had unions or even before we had the main forums and will continue on to be a great place for a long time to come

Never paid much attention to unions anyway. I do still visit Gamespot nearly every day though.

I think all the glitches and BONK errors may have put a lot of people off.

 @-INKling-

I remember not visiting GS for about a week over that BONK crap. It definately killed the Unions: BONK made posting in them impossible for a while.

I only stop by to talk to some of my peeps, which I could do on other online places.

It definately feels that way. Aside from occassional friends' blogs, I don't bother with GS too much. I'll occassionally check out the news, but it's mostly next-gen and industry insider crap I don't care much for. And I've all but abandoned the Unions.

The format changes were a big factor in alot of it.

I recently hit up the Cyber Monday sales on GOG and Steam. So I'll probably hammer out a brief blog about it by week's end. But my blogs are brief, few, and far between of late.

It certainly seems that way. The new format brought too many bugs. Everytime I try to post on a union the BONK message appears. It is annoying but tolerable.

I try to be relatively active in the unions but to be honest it's difficult to do when you are the only one actively participating.

Work has been keeping you busy, glad to see that it is going well for you. Hope it's not too stressful on you. College has been keeping me busy so I am guilty as well for not posting regularly.

Anyways, I'm sure this site will get more active at some point in time but for now, it looks like it might stay dead for awhile. Good to hear from you though!

As an forty-plus year old video game aficionado - something you can relate to - I find the changes have widened the generation gap.

We can only relate to emotional/literal fifteen-year-olds but so much and this site has done everything it can to cater to the younger crowd.

Also, for us "old guys", unions (or relationships in general) need participation - constant participation - and between real life, it's obligations, our kids and our careers it's hard to commit the time and consideration needed.  Also, speaking for myself, momentum is key in maintaining enthusiasm & interest and to my experience, this is the most momentum-killing social site of any major one I can think of.  Glitches, bugs, bannings, constant restructuring... you name it.  Unions are getting a much needed face lift, I'm told.  Seeing is believing, though.

I stick around for the occasional visit or blog from old users and some of the youngun's are good kids.  Mostly I'm a junkie and this is still a pretty damned good data base for the hobby.

I never really interacted with you much, but I did (and do) read your stuff, which is my rule for anyone I track.  Good to see you're still around in one way or another.  Gaming takes from grizzled old Harley riding badasses are always much appreciated.
