Thomas Was Alone Review

Thomas Was Alone tells a heartfelt tale of friendship. Developed by Mike Bithell (the PlayStation ports handled by Curve Studios), it follows a group of sentient artificial intelligences in the form of quadrilaterals as they attempt to escape or rather, emerge from their confines. It begins with Thomas, a newly formed AI longing for camaraderie, and a dozen other characters searching for purpose in their newfound lives, all working together to discover it.

Monaco: What's Yours Is Mine Review

Monaco is a two-dimensional, isometric, tough-as-nails cooperative heist game where every instance varies greatly. Random generation of coins and guard locations make every attempt new and unexpected, always foiling any carefully formulated plans you construct. Whether alone or a team, the challenge is such that you can never count on any methods or strategies to succeed, forced to rely on your wits constantly for even a modicum of chance at victory. Its brutal and magnificent; one of the finest cooperative games around.

Random things that irk me
When people spell e-mail as email.
When people purposely avoid using the Oxford comma*. And for that matter the idea that it's somehow irrelevant (it's not [NSFW]).
When people misspell definitely as defiantly.
Chat speak.
Leet speak.
People who use ellipsis in place of every other form of punctuation ever.
Overuse of acronyms.
When people put parenthesis inside parenthesis (the proper technique is to use brackets [like so])
Anyone who thinks you can't start a sentence with a conjunction.
When people think certain games can't be games because of some narrow, ass-backward ideal of what games "should" be.
*I understand that there are certainly cases where not using it adds more clarity, and I'm perfectly okay with that. Problem is, most people who dislike it refuse to use it because a style guide like the Associated Press' says not to. At least learn when its use is appropriate than abandon it entirely. Is that so much to ask?
