Seriously? I thought the new tou is suppose to be suspension proof? Lies I was told. Anyway that makes this an impressive 22 suspensions and one ban for me.
Anyway I'd love to talk about the playoff weekend. But Peyton Manning my favorite player decided once again that he needed to break my heart, the way he has been since 1998. Thank you Peyton.
That said I'm not of the mindset that he "choked" as much as as a fan of the game as well I can't ignore 9-11 in the playoffs. Reality is his choke, his bad throw, him being flushed out of the pocket because his line couldn't block, and John Fox being way too conservative are a direct result of one of the most jaw dropping plays I've seen in the NFL.
It's like 40 seconds to go, the other team has no timeout, and Joe Flacco just launches this ball into the bread basket of Jacoby Jones, and it's like how does a safety not understand this situation? YOUR JOB IS TO COVER THE BACK END NO ONE SHOULD RUN BY YOU. He stops that play, and the story of this game is that Peyton Manning had a go ahead, game winning drive touchdown pass. See? From Hero to Choker all because one safety didn't do his job. Ladies and gentelemtn Peyton Manning didn't play great, although he played very good(3 touchdown passes in regulation from your QB is very good), but it was just deflating to see what should have been an epic matchup of Manning vs Brady end because of something so stupid. And of course the devestating interception that has become a common theme among Manning playoff games.
That said as a football fan what I got was one of the greatest playoff games ever. It was a back and forth affair with big plays, and a whole lot of drama till the last second. Some major hall of famers on that field. As a fan of the game, and sadly of the player who lost the game. It's a bittersweet pill to swallow. I'm sure in a few years I'll be cool with mentioning how amazing the game was, but as it stands now it's just killed my mood for the weekend. Like I was able to go to a party, and just not give a f*ck. Was totally watching the Packers/49ers game completely disappointed, and baby sitting the beer I was drinking.
But that ladies and gentlemen that is the beauty of sports. It's not just the complete and utter joy we feel when our team wins that is what makes sports so powerful in our society. It's that soul crushing, heart breaking, absolutely devestating loss that lingers with us for the next few months that makes sports so beautiful in the first place. Because without them there is no joy when the hurdle is overcome. So here's to next year.
Also dear Joe Flacco, f*cking hell of a throw
*sigh* it's like torture I keep willingly going back to seeing. I'm in disbelief that the safety is this stupid.
Anyway the golden globes suck, and always will. Awards show suck in general. But I really like Jodie Fosters speech. Cheers to that lady. The part where she's talking about her mom? DAMN. Usually actors put up these lame ass stupid speeches about "how they making art" like I'm suddenly gonna forget that they also make stuff like Legally Blonde, but this ladies stuff sounded pretty f*cking sincere.
I think you should watch. Lady poured her heart out. Respect to that lady. Would bang on principle. True Story.
