Say what you will, but this game is far superior to Starcraft. It isn't even close in my opinion.

It's such a good solution to make a game have a slight cartoon style, this way it will always be visually appealing, like wind waker.

@parkurtommo  Yeah, I always like games like that. They need a real Wind Waker sequel for Wii U and not just a crappy DS spin-off.

Man, not only do I miss Kasavin but also the old gamespot scoring system...the arbitrary scores they come up with these days seem somewhat random without a basis for each of the core components of the game including its graphics, sound, gameplay, value etc...

@R3NeGaDeAnGeL Since I recently began to get interested in older RPG and RTS games, I've grown to really like Kasavin. I wish he came back too!

I just bought this today because my work computer is finally good enough to run it, and I'll have something to do when I travel out of town. Blizzard can keep up its long development lifecycles if quality is always this good.

Hey wiiwiiwii22, Greg Kasavin was the best I agree, and also a guy called Jeff Gertsmann. Those two were the best, most exciting reviewers. Greg Kasavin was never fired, he chose to leave himself, to pursue one of his dreams for being a developer, and now he works for the LA studios of EA (Electronics Arts) and helped develop and produce command and conquer 3: tiberium wars and red alert. If you don't believe me you can go check his wikipedia page or search his name on gamespot (i recommend the former, there's more info)

My brother got this years ago when it first came out, and oddly enough, I'm tempted to buy my own copy now. It's been ages since I've played it, but I always liked it.

This game was a beast to beat without cheats back when I was 10. The final campaign especially. Yet when I picked it up 7 years later and practiced some, it felt like cakewalk.

It just goes to show how much skill Blizzard have when they can release a game and 8 years down the line people are still playing it and hailing it as the best in it's genre. I'm new to rts, and seeing as this is old enough to be cheap, and amazing enough to be fun I'll certainly be picking it up.

This game is gorgeous, even today. The bright colors, the cheery art style... It's very nice, and detailed despite the blockiness.

@Link-reaper The Heroes in Warcraft III are souped-up units that you build from a special building at your base, such as the Orc's "Altar of Storms." Heroes' attacks are stronger than a regular unit's, and as the Hero fights it gains experience points, like a character in a role-playing game would. Each time it gains a level, a Hero gets a "Hero Point" that can be spent on one of several special abilities, like an area-of-effect attack, or a spirit to summon and have fight by your side. These abilities have to be triggered separately from a regular attack. Also, Heroes can pick up special items off the ground that grant various bonuses, such as a pair of claws that give an attack boost, or a potion that can return health or mana (used to cast spells, again like a role-playing game). These items are stored in the Hero's inventory, which is only six spaces, but they can be removed if you want to swap them for something more useful. As for the review, Greg did superb as always. It's a little irksome that the video quality was iffy, but then again it IS from 2002. This game is a masterpiece.
