Yakuza 4 is just an amazing game. And combine that with the amazing Carolyn and you've got yourself an awesome review of an awesome game!

Yeah this reviewer is awesome but lately most reviewers on gamespot are quite good.I've been following this site for many years and its always getting better.

The reviewer should also be complimented for taking an active role in this discussion board. I have posted comments on other reviews she has done and she is one of the few reviewers that goes above and beyond to engage in dialogue about the games... u can tell she is a very passionate game reviewer/fan.

you know what.... i think i just may buy this... it looks great... great job to that guy who did the review...

@pain1219 1.the series was exclusives to playstation consoles since the ps2 2.it's main fanbase is in japan, where the xbox 360 does not sell well 3.it would have probably bombed in terms of sales on the 360 because Japanese oriented games tend to do better on the ps3.

I think Carolyn gives the best reviews on gamespot bar none.. Side note as I watched this review there was an add for wwe all stars in the corner, and Hulk Hogan has a full head of hair in the add.. I thought steriods took care of Hogan need a comb since he was 15, but it is funny. This game looks great I may pick it up. To all the people who make the comments about her, I bet you would never have the courage to say these things to someones face so just shut up before someone comes and shuts you up. Ignore them Carolyn and keep up the good work, besides other than there mothers and tv you are prolly the only girl they see.

I think still no. 2 has the best story.

@BlackBaldwin Yeah you can skip the subplots in Yakuza 3 too and just go directly to the destination of the main story with the pink marker. And of course you cand do the subplots after you finis the game in Yakuza 3 also.

@luciferbelmont, thanks for the advice ill do just that. Can you skip the subplots in yakuza 3? I thought that the subplots were entwined with the main. I could be wrong I'm pretty new to the series...

Well being a fan of the first 3 games, obviously I'm having a blast with this one. So far it's definitely the best one, haven't finished it yet (due to life being busy), but the game's amazing.

@BlackBaldwin just skip the subplots and do the main story remember there optional. You can always go back in adventure mode to do sidequest after you beat the game.

I like these games because they remind me of shenmue. I want shenmue 3, but Yakuza is a great game and i like it alot

Carolyn is Gamespot's best kept secret! She's eloquent, to the point and well-versed in many aspects of (gaming)-life. Her reviewing style might be a little pragmatic at times, but that sterile and clinical approach is suitable - preferable even - in this industry. Well done, Miss Petit!

reminds me of Shenmue in a good way as well as my last trip to japan !

@mosamania I fail to see how a role playing game has japanese culture in it. Nothing in Final Fantasy VII is based upon reality. Its all fantasy.

Gotta get it, I played the previous 3 and all of them were awesome.

I think this game is amusing but what i really want is to play Shenmue 3!

may I've had yakuza 3 for like a month now and even after playing a whole bunch i'm still not even close to beating everything ,. but as soon as i do beat a bit more of i'm definitely picking up number 4 because i love Yakuza 3 so much

I played the demo of the third game, and it was fun. If I ever find the time, I may check out the series.

Seems okay. Not too into the Jap culture type games really though
